Chain length: 70cm (27 inches).
Art Nouveau style swan sterling silver fossil coral necklace. Hand made with fossil coral cabochon, baroque pearl, and sterling silver. I got a pair of these fossil coral cabochons with beautiful feather-like patterns, and planned to make them a simple pair of swan earrings. But when I cut out the swan shape, The stones tell me they want more. So I came out with this design and end up with a necklace and a brooch.
The twigs, reeds, and waves on the backplate were hand-cut with a jewelers saw. Then the edges were carefully filed down to bring up the volume to the design. Patina was used to oxidize silver to different levels, in order to reach different shades of colors. Swan body was made silver satin finish along with the shape, mimicking swan feather look. The chain and handmade clasp and toggle were also oxidized to match the color of the pendant. Then the whole piece was sealed with spray lacquer to preserve the color. Pink lavender baroque pearls were attached to give a decent touch to the necklace.
